Today was NOT the worst day of my life or career – 3/30/26

I hope everyone is doing okay.

Some of us will either think or say, “I had the worst day of my life.” I thought it was today. You don’t understand you are blessed until it is put in your face and you realize I am wrong. I am wrong for going through today making a false statement. I have been busy putting a budget together in the multi-millions range for mental health programs for our sponsor to review with hopes of getting some or all funded from our requests. Fourteen different programs are up for review soon. My budget sheet is due to our sponsor in the next couple days.

We have to state who, what, and how we will operate. It’s not easy going line by line and it’s quite a bit. I had a pretty good working day and plan. My only focus today. I planned to work until 4pm, go home and continue working at home until and pull an all-nighter if necessary. It’s down to the wire and these are due on 4/1/26.

I made it home as planned. Spoke to the Sr. Mgr via the Teams application. I was telling her that I am not supporting someone that does nothing on the project I work on. He doesn’t assist and he should come off the project and will no longer pay him from this project. She tried to get me to agree with her and I disagreed. She showed me an email from the administrator defending this person to stay on the project. I got the feeling the administrator and this person are friends. “Nope, this person does nothing on this research project. He might have in the last project which closed but not now. Take him off effective Sept 1st. If not, show me where and what he does for the project I oversee because I do it all. You forget I’m a one-stop-shop.” The Sr. Manager said nothing else and gave up. Then of my own consideration and suggestion I mentioned the payroll lady who does much more than what this guy does. She might get it wrong most times, but she does show up and tries. So, the payroll lady will be added effective Sept 1st to replace the guy that does nothing. The manager would’ve given up and not thought to add her payroll assistant. I had to think for her, but it all goes back to experience. It won’t register for her and doesn’t use the knowledge that others show her to assist with other team members. The MD’s would agree with me to add the payroll lady and it was their directive to remove the guy. They didn’t even know who he is or what his function is. I was so tired of having to deal with the same topic and was a bit frustrated with her for pushing me on it.

Then my laptop crapped out on me. Oh my gosh! It wasn’t charging and I became desperate because this caused me to get off track. The hubby went to the store and purchased a new USB for me to try and see if it was the connection to the laptop. Nothing! I started to freak out. The laptop was also not extending to both my monitors either. I sent the Sr. Manager a Teams message. Her response to me an hour later was emailing her assistant to get me a loaner by the end of the week, ugh! My boss told me to buy a new laptop which would take 2 weeks for delivery, really?! Director 2 said I could use her space because my time was running out and had to submit the budgets, this is critical.

At 7:30PM I was on my way back to work. The commute without traffic is 45 minutes into the city. I was upset, with tears in my eyes that I had no support, but only Director 2. This was the worst day of my career, hands down, my thoughts as I drove into the city. I’m now on a time crunch. GOD is great! Time and time again. He doesn’t fail me. I was able to get into the building, CHECK! ✅. I get to Director 2’s office and I try to charge my laptop, CHECK! ✅. I started to work again at 8:15PM. I was able to complete my budget checklist tasks as planned by 10:30PM. Despite that it was late CHECK!✅.

I left the office traveling back home, another 45 minutes drive. Then it all came to a halt again on the highway. I was not happy and just wanted to make it home. I got stuck behind a fatal vehicle accident and someone lost their life on the highway. We were being diverted off the highway. Then it hit me when my hubby said through my car phone. “A family is about to get a call and will be the worst day of their life.”

I am sorry for the loss of this person’s life. My condolences to the family. It was a reminder and a hard lesson learned. It was NOT the worst day of my life and not of my career either. I prayed for the person as I drove on the frontage road past the accident. May this person rest in peace.

I arrived home around 11:30PM. Thank you God for my life ❤️🙏and I pray for the life lost🫶🏻 ♥️🙏. I shed tears and went to bed. As I write this entry and I recall that day I’m holding back tears and remember the life lost. The verse is for the person that lost their life this night. All the Best!
