I hope everyone is doing okay.
I’ve been on high alert and unfocused at my regular tasks. This week as it has been since the beginning of the year seems much busier than last year. I’m a bit nervous, waiting to resolve the new deficit situation of finding $420K to fund an important program (blog 1/21/26). A nail biting situation for me. I hope I am not asked for any additional information. Detailing the situation has already been a daunting task. I have a second difficult conversation of the same sort coming up.
I have to explain to MD “SE” that the budget was inflated back in 2024 and now he was shorted with no budget. “DD” submitted the incorrect amount and now I have to resolve a second deficit of about $350K. My goodness.
In addition to the already busy schedule and tasks the new budget sheets came to begin requesting funds for the future 2 years. It’s a $30M budget geared to mental health that is much needed for children. It’s important work. It’s going to be a busy next couple months and I am at the helm of it all. My leadership will be important and crucial that I forecast and submit what we will need to attach salary, maintenance, administrative, technology, and operations for fourteen different programs that is valuable that otherwise are not offered at any hospital or non-profit organization. This budget process is not really my job, but here I am I will learn a lot and so no complaint from me there. I thank God for the knowledge each day.
MD “C” has been asking me to give her data to present to the head of the department as her evaluation is coming up. I’m basically assisting her to get a nice raise and I did the work. She wants to show how the program has grown since she took it over all the while no staff received a merit raise. I get that they do important work, but we contribute to their success as well. I definitely need assistance and this has gone ignored after asking several times. All the Best!
