Day 3 @ D.C. – sponsor meeting – 5/14/25

I hope everyone is doing okay. I had a tough meeting today. I had my rear handed the whole time. I have to laugh now because I am getting it from every direction! The sponsor who I have been updating and working with to find cost savings and end this challenge of the overspent budget was frustrated today, very aggressive attitude. I had to hear her judgement of my co-workers and that we had to do a staff shift of effort and save on payroll costs. This will absolutely not sit well with my team.

She was upset and pointed the finger and I took the blame, it’s fine, I’ll take it. She’s upset because of our lack of accounting accountability. I was so confused at what she was explaining to me and that our numbers weren’t tying back to hers. Then she says she wants to see it all from its inception of the project. Wait?! She only wanted to see 2 years worth and now she wants to see all 4 years! I was sure, but she changed it.

I had enough of her direct judgment and I told her I understood now because this is new and not instructed at our prior meetings. I raised my voice at her and she canceled our Friday meeting. I’m okay with it since I’m out of town. I’m being asked to do more and she’s really sticking it to us as sort of punishment. I don’t appreciate it since I’m the only one who’s going to have to endure the consequences and more stress. I’ll have to explain over and over to all the non-finance folks.

On top of it all I was dumped another project of completing financial reporting for my organization on the same project and submit for the past 7 months to get reimbursed for the costs incurred and I hope it doesn’t get rejected, it’s a quick turnaround on this one so I’ll have to work pretty fast. It was an awful day of smackdowns.

I went off to drink today away today 🍷 to shake off a bit of this stress and people’s negative vibes. All the Best!
