Our reputation – 5/26/26

I hope everyone is doing okay.

We had our major budget meeting today with our sponsor. This budget is to carry us through the next 3 years of project work and patient support. We were grilled. It was touchy at some points. Even our head of the department was put on the spot. It seemed like he was in a daze? Maybe he didn’t understand all of it. People that should’ve attended, did not. Yet, it’s the same people that want power without working for it. It was embarrassing because it shows our lack of interest for our part.

The administrator was slouched in his chair. I had to defend why our HR area wanted time on this project and justified it. A couple people told me it went well, but I don’t really agree, but stayed silent. We didn’t do our due diligence. I was advised it would not be a big deal, but yet we were questioned and our conversation went all 2 hours straight. I’m a bit sad because I keep thinking back why did I listen and not do my regular thorough review. We were given another opportunity to adjust our budgets based on the guidance.

I hope they know I did my best given what I had based on the current information and resources available to me. This was my first major meeting with all the high-ranking officials going in and first cycle going into new budget years. We were over our budget and were told to reduce it. Wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t good either. It was my first so I’ll take my learning experience from it not to listen to others and follow my gut instinct next time. All the Best!
