I hope everyone is doing okay.
So, the Sr. Manager struck me as an HR expert, but to find out that the program teams are the ones that are the real experts and do most of the HR tasks. She’s mostly just pushing paper to our central HR team which is the “real” HR team. What does she really do know, there’s no real skill there that she’s required to have.
We have a newly hired person that uses a 2nd language skillset in her job on a regular basis. We are allowed to pay additional for that skillset. The skillset would be used directly as part of the role each day. This reduces us from having to hire an external agency to fill that role and that contract would cost a lot more. The Sr. Mgr couldn’t defend it and the additional pay was declined for the new hire. She should be able to advocate on behalf of the department and couldn’t justify correctly with details for the need.
Despite that information provided was more than sufficient, she didn’t add the necessary details. It was a blow to us and our patients would not have the very necessary skillset available to them. But I’m sure the employee will not reject using her skillset anyway. We should be able to support however possible. All the Best!
