I hope everyone is doing okay.
Most times I can read a person based on their work experience by what they focus on, what’s important to tackle, their priorities, and attitude handling situations whether good or bad. The Sr Manager was out of the office for a while and recently returned a little over a couple weeks ago. I have had meetings with her to bring her up to speed, but I wonder why if I don’t report to her, but I can understand too. She’s the office manager. We have had a couple meetings already about the priority items.
Today she asked via email why one of my initiatives had a specific naming convention and the reason behind it. Who gave the directive to name the initiative. Why does it matter? Of all the open fires I have, you choose to ask me such a question. Why not ask me how you can help? Me: “You might recall during our earlier meeting this month I addressed the initiative budget that was completely missed back in May 2024 during your budget process and submission. The result is there’s two initiatives rolled into one and we had to find a workaround with the non-profit organization which they understood and we were able to also meet our obligations. The naming convention allows the MD’s and myself to know this is two initiatives being paid with this single budget. I instructed the central office to give set the name up as it appears.” No response the rest of the day. My oh my!
The payroll lady “MM” was asked about some entries that she missed despite I corrected her and she ignored them. She passed the buck on to my boss and I. Laughable at this point after she screwed up my payroll twice. I didn’t fret and responded, “It’s okay, there should not be many adjustments just go through them and fix what I sent you.” I got the payroll lady off the hook and didn’t bother to push back. I’m not going to get into an email battle with them and they don’t want to answer my calls either. I give up with these two. If the payroll is wrong they will have to deal with it I don’t have time to repeat myself. All the Best!
