Mental strength – 5/28/25

I hope everyone is doing okay. I work in a department that focuses on patient mental health and it’s doctor’s expertise area. The work environment should also reflect this, but it doesn’t? It’s great how patients are treated, but in my opinion of how I am treated and so a couple co-workers agreed as we shared experiences today during a lunch break. Most stay quiet and don’t say much and that’s the best they can do. Crazy! Maybe they are not experiencing what others are like me. I don’t complain and I won’t because I do have some support from my boss and he allows me to do my job.

My colleagues tell me their stories and makes me cringe the comments that are made and things that happen, nothing illegal, but certainly mentally stressful. Some don’t get along, some don’t carry their weight, some overwhelmed, and there’s work tasks that keep on giving problems. As usual, I’m the lucky (sarcasm) one that gets another project assigned to me. I accepted with a grain of salt and will wait to find out how difficult it will be, don’t want to borrow any trouble.

This past weekend the message from the pastor covered Colossians 1.24-1.28, titled “You can’t steal my joy” and rely on God to have strength. If you suffer you show weakness, find joy in it. Christ’s power works within me when I work so hard or go through a struggle. I went back to read my notes from Sunday to remind me and stay strong. I tried to motivate my colleagues to look on the bright side and work collaboratively and enjoy lunch breaks, walk away for a bit to clear the mind. All the Best!
