I hope everyone is doing okay.

I was called into the supervisor’s office at 11am today. I took 11/12/24 off to clear my head. I didn’t know what the meeting would be about. My thought was that we would re-group and try to resolve Monday’s situation. She asked where I was with my tasks and what I had left to work on. I really didn’t go into detail because they were all listed on my Teams app which she had access the whole time. She then went on to tell me my last day was 11/14/24, tomorrow. She continued to tell me that she would pay me through the end of the week. I said, “okay” and walked away. I had submitted my resignation letter already, so I was okay with it. I wasn’t going to ask to stay. I didn’t see the point of resolving anything since my letter was already submitted.

It was about 6:30pm and my friend calls me at home and tells me the following story, “I got a call from one of the investigator’s and he mentions there was a department meeting today. The department head announced that the supervisor and I couldn’t come to an agreement and that I had made the decision to quit.”

Unbelievable, a 20+ year career I’ve never had this happen! It broke me. I was at my lowest point now. I wanted to leave quiet and let go. Of course, my friend already knew what occurred earlier this morning and was flabbergasted. She felt compelled to tell me because she knew it was a lie. I was mad now. I immediately followed up with the head of the department to tell him whatever was communicated to him about our 11am meeting between the supervisor and I was a lie. We never talked about a resolution. She only told me 11/14/24 was my last day. His only response was to apologize and would find out what happened and would get back to me. My understanding from his emails to me is that he was trying to get me to agree and stay. I decided to go to work tomorrow.

Even if I decided to stay or not, I had to clear my name of the gossip and lies. I don’t think I would’ve stayed after what happened today. Today went to a level it shouldn’t have, and this woman was trying to defame my name and actions. The department head responded to my email the information he received was not what he and I agreed to during our discussion and what was communicated to him from the supervisor also was not a discussion of an agreement. An agreement was never discussed between the supervisor and me.

I knew then that the supervisor wouldn’t want me back and I also agree with her that I didn’t want to stay. My last day would be 11/20/24. I only wanted to clear my name. All of this because the cat lady decided she would go crazy and yell for 5 minutes straight because I brought the topic and questioned why I was working more to an already overwhelmed workload.
