Friday reflection – the old is still new – 10/18/24

I hope everyone is doing okay. I work with women that think their old school mentality and view of working is the new way to handle us younger people.

One is angry (cat lady), always on the defensive, and wants to be negative about everything even though things go great. She thinks everyone is out to get her. She holds grudges and now my co-worker and friend and I are on her target list. She has recently been on the attack with everyone it seems. Something is wrong, it’s as if she feels threatened and we don’t know why. She refuses to help or does if she’s in a good mood, loves to gossip, has nothing to do and that’s why we have been giving her things to do here and there. She takes 2-to-3-hour breaks when she’s remote. She has started to point the finger at both my co-worker and friend and myself to deflect that she’s got nothing to do. I don’t think she will be able to hold her tongue too long and will blow a gasket soon. Only then it will give her away.

The other cannot control her staff, definitely not me since I’m not a follower. If I did things the way she wants me to do them I wouldn’t have had the success I have currently. This department would go to crap. She has turned to being a micromanager because she has nothing else. “I march to the beat of my own drum.” She hasn’t been successful at micromanaging me, yet! The supervisor has made headway of micromanaging my friend because the cat lady has put it in the supervisor’s ear that my friend spends a lot of time talking and visiting with others too long. It’s suffocating my friend.

We will see how this turns out. Both women really believe that what they think and should happen is needed in this department when no rules have been broken and we’re all working, are they? I won’t give in. I perform at a high scale because of my job expectations. I can’t sit and stay at their level because I don’t care and I’m not like them. I have more important things to do and people to meet to reach investigator’s goals, not just 1, but 10 investigators. What happened to support instead of micromanaging? All the Best!
