I hope everyone is doing okay. I was having a good morning, but nothing prepares you for what happens and the nerve of people. Just because I’m nice doesn’t mean I’m naive, LOL!

A meeting is set with one of the investigators and right before I am to have the meeting, the supervisor comes in to my office and explains this investigator commented to the head of the department that the investigator is to receive a bonus. Oh! And that I am the one who mentioned it in our last meeting. One, I didn’t know I had that much authority. Two, I will give myself a bonus if the case is that I have that much authority. I laughed. I invited the supervisor to clear the air about the bonus in question?

As we went through the project work and got through that okay I asked, “Okay, tell me about the bonus and where that is coming from?” He had nothing really to say but historically he receives a bonus, nothing else. I said, “Oh great, can I get one too?” In a joking manner. Nothing came up that mentioned that I was to give anyone bonuses. LOL! We continued on with our meeting and as the supervisor was helping with the pro-card expenses and submitting those wallets into workflow for approval we were talking about the weather and that we lost power and the clean up being done.

My supervisor began making comments about my personal life to the investigator. I shared with her earlier because it was weather related that I was alone because my hubby is a first responder, but it turned into something else stating such as, “Well you’re lucky because your hubby is an only child, your son is an only child, and you are the only daughter-in-law, you get everything.” I don’t understand how a weather conversation turned into something personal. I am blessed I have the support of my in-laws and my family as well. I am blessed I have them close in case I need to go with my son somewhere during my time of need. I let it go and continued with changing the topic and I think she caught on and said nothing else. That’s on me I will no longer share anything personal because in all honestly it has to do more with her that I don’t know of than me. I’ll keep my lips sealed in the future.

After the supervisor left us to continue our meeting the investigator began to ask, “What do you think happened, why is all this a mess?” I finally told him I don’t know the details and have no background history and due to the deleted files, I had to start from scratch. I thought the conversation was weird.

From the conversation I asked the supervisor to pull a financial transaction list of particular expenses and it struck me! Whoa! A lot of mistakes were made of posting expenses incorrectly and large amounts as far back a couple years. As I clear expenses, my responsibility is to apply expenses accordingly, whatever remains that cannot be applied to research will be the decision of higher ups. All the Best!
