I hope everyone is doing okay.
And it is here. I really do not want to say it, but it’s time for people to answer for their careless work. Some haven’t been held to the minimal standard and now it comes out and this is small too and another problem to solve. Director 2 shared during a program review that she shouldn’t have to pay for so much for fees that were dumped on her project and no one bothered to check. We cannot charge fees on something that is not actual.
Director 2 spoke up because we need to find a solution. I wasn’t aware and now it becomes my problem too. Despite showing evidence it is either ignored or defended even though they are wrong. Today the Sr. Manager could only acknowledge and apologize only. She got spooked at facts spoken to her. Director 2 kept asking why and how did it happen to charge fees that are not actual?
Director 2 was frustrated at staff being overworked and no merit raises were approved this year. Her team only has one cabinet and half room if that why are they being charged for space too? Director 2 told me all this wasn’t directed toward me because she knows I have been busy doing a lot of accounting clean up. She’s aware of my progress and has seen results. Things have been running smooth since I came on board. This task was on the HR team and Sr. Manager. I shared her sentiment that morale has been low. It felt as if I have been in battle since I got here. There’s many of us that are burnt out. I don’t take anything personal and I smile and continue with grace.
The week has been of putting the spotlight at problems and associated the issue to a person. The Sr. Manager responded that if it weren’t for me her job would’ve been in jeopardy. That was a lie. The upper administration are very well aware of the issues and no one has been reprimanded for a high deficit in the millions. Her shortcomings which have been a lot still gave her a high rating on her performance evaluation and even though it’s none of my business it represents how the scales tip against us the workers. I received a low rating despite all the stress and fires , long hours, and had to face the tongue lashings from many. They still didn’t care.
What these people caused were not mistakes, it was incompetence. Mistakes are current and temporary. The tasks I had to face were from years ago, 3 years specifically. While my mistakes are caught and I get my hand slapped over not catching an invoice that was missing a purchase order number on it. Director 1 submits budgets and cannot recall why or how she came up with a title and salary from a year ago. Where are your notes and the purpose. Now I have to come up with a solution to make it right while her is not aware that I am helping her figure it out and I’m playing her role. Insane! I know the game, but I’m holding my playing cards for the appropriate time. I would be worried if I were them. All the Best!
