I hope everyone is doing okay. So I didn’t notice a late email on Tuesday night the boss sent me to stop by the administrator’s office and talk to him about my performance evaluation before I added a rebuttal to my response of the performance. I am not upset because I had a hunch, but what the result would be and I should’ve listened to my intuition. I’m past it. Things won’t be the same and I can see it coming.
I worked through the day and I got the call at 5pm 🕔 when I get off. In summary of the call I’m going to point out the highlights of the call. 📱
- Administrator: “You didn’t set goals at the beginning of the year.” Me: “How is that I just started this past January? I made my own goals and documented them, do you want them?” Administrator: “No, there is nothing to measure against, they were not documented. You have to be here more than a year to get a higher score.” Me: “So, you are evaluating me for the amount of time, not my work and I have the goals documented. I can provided them.” Administrator: “No, you do good work and you can learn other stuff like department budget in case your boss leaves you can take that job over.” Me: “I’m not interested in my boss’s job. I don’t do good work. I did extraordinary work. I came in with these projects being in the red.” Administrator: “That’s what I’m saying, you do good work. I came in when the department was in red and turned it black.” Me: “Why was it red when I came on board?” Administrator: “Don’t write ✍️ a rebuttal HR will open an investigation and I don’t know what will happen to your relationship with your boss. He gave you that rating. Set your goals and next year you will be graded based on those.” Me: “Okay, thanks for the call.” I couldn’t believe it.
He tried to manipulate the conversation and kept redirecting my conversation and not answering my questions. They are supposed to rate me based on the work that I did the past 10 months and that is not at all how this went. He kept telling me I did good work and I corrected him each time. I went above and beyond and the conversation went nowhere, hence the reason I didn’t want the conversation. I knew I wasn’t going to win the battle, but I stood up for myself. These people have a distorted view of the process for evaluating someone. All the Best!
