Risks led to options – 12/07/24

I hope everyone is doing okay. Today was very interesting for two reasons.

One, I was asked to provide a couple copies of previous performance evaluations. You wonder why they would want to review them? I understand they want to get to know me and my work and want to be sure they are hiring the right person.

Two, I wrote about the topic of performance evaluations in my blog back on 10/18/24 and that they weren’t useful during the process because internally we all get the same raise whether you do a good job or not. Well, my performance evals became useful when you are looking for a new job. Employers are actually looking at how you have performed before they make a job offer. This is an option you don’t have to provide them. I did provide them because I’ve always had great evaluations and there was nothing for me to hide, gladly sent them over.

On another note, I also had a recruiter reach out and asked me to apply for a couple of positions available for a different organization which I only applied to one that I really liked. There are options and I feel good about the decisions and risks I am taking, but I just hope that I make the right decision and go to work for the right organization. All the Best!
