And it just went insane, but not really – 10/09/24

I hope everyone is doing okay.

I can’t believe what people react to and what they think stress is. People live in a bubble. Their version of reality is different from mine. I do have to laugh as they seem to believe the stress they feel is like the end of the world.

The life of investigator #7 as I’ll call him is crumbling at the moment because his company card can be suspended if he doesn’t clear the expenses off of it and post them appropriately to his accounts by Monday. I assured him that wouldn’t be the case and didn’t have to send me an email that started with “OMG!” God really doesn’t need to be involved I thought in my mind. It’s more of an “oh my gosh” moment. He asked if I could send him reminders in addition to the emails already sent to him of the expenses posted to his credit card and the system reminders to clear his card on a weekly basis. The suspended alert still gives him 7 days to clear his expenses. I’m not his assistant and I don’t really have the time to do it when I handle 10 total investigators and several part time researchers as well. I shouldn’t be treated as such either. I was nice to his response and told him I would try to figure something out, but no promises.

The supervisor favored several of them and would send them additional reminders, but credit cards are not my only task that I work on. I still have other pressing and demanding research duties that I have to work on and process along with budgets and posting a lot other charges that are priority.

I’m only copied or involved when the problem is already created, but not prior so that I can make decisions on avoiding them. Both the coworker and supervisor are good at duplicating or making mistakes, but now they will have to clean things up on their own. They melt at the time of the problem arising and come to me as their solution to clean it up. All the Best!
