Getting to know you – 9/9/24

I hope everyone is doing okay. I had a good day today, but not everyone did. I am a good observer. I pay attention during my conversations with people in particular those who I have to work closely with on a daily basis. I take notes and it helps me get to know them and their style of work. I am able to pick up on things that allow me to adjust, stay a step ahead, and think of what they would ask me or they would need to have all the necessary information.

I had a good chat with investigator #5 as I’ll call him. He likes my way of thinking, innovation, to think outside the box, and challenges me. I had to tell him I didn’t have an answer at the moment, but that I would find out. I take these as a learning experience. He liked my honesty and positivity. He liked my approach to work and ideas of resolving situations. I’m learning each of the ten investigators independently and adjusting. I’ve been around them for long enough to know how to handle the different personalities and perspectives.

Then the supervisor and I had a meeting with investigator #6 as I’ll call her. There’s some topics that you cannot touch or bring up with investigator revenue and that’s telling them how to spend it. She brought up the fact that the investigator had a healthy discretionary account and could use it to pay for some of the debt. Revenue should be the last option to bring up. The investigator clapped back at the supervisor, threatened to go to the president of the organization and/or pick up the phone and have a new job the next day. She didn’t care if her account was 3 or 4 times more. The supervisor moved away from the camera from standing next to me. I didn’t say anything, didn’t get involved. The topic shouldn’t have been brought up and I also didn’t interfere. My thoughts to the supervisor was to scale up her complaint because there was nothing I could do and don’t have the power to make the changes or make decisions. I mentioned it was time for her to go and “ruffle some feathers” because I have already made attempt from many avenues to resolve on how to pay for work she’s already completed and still have no contract.

There are times we don’t know it all, so we have to know how to address certain things. We sometimes don’t have the full picture and it’s out of our hands. Someone else has to step in that can provide guidance. The supervisor went on to tell me that she’s too close to retirement and doesn’t want to go to jail before she retires. Huh? I’m really not sure why that was mentioned. The things I have to deal with… All the Best!
