I hope everyone is doing okay. This week taught me about friendships at work. Not to focus so much on the past and more on who is in front of you because the present and who’s in it is most important. I realized to let the past be the past.
My co-worker and friend called me with her situation today. She was in shock and couldn’t believe someone could be so ugly and all done behind her back. She didn’t see it coming and to me it was all because some lady was so jealous of my friend’s authenticity. Everyone love’s my friend, she’s genuine, and understanding. My friend doesn’t have a bad bone in her body. I, at times, wish I could embody some of her characteristics, but I’m not giving up I’m still working on it. I do believe the person that was ugly to my friend was jealous for the following:
“K” as I’ll call her would ask co-workers if they were team “K” or team “B” as I’ll call my friend. Two, there was friction between “B” and her co-worker “N” as soon as “K” joined the group. “K” would tell “N” lies about “B”, conversations never had or took things out of context. Three, “K” began to talk about “B” to the head of the department and had to be scolded and “K” was told to “grow up”. “K” didn’t like “B” and could never say why. “K” quickly realized that she was getting nowhere with trying to turn people against “B”. Finally, “K” decided to resign her position.
“B’s” positive vibe and staying away from the gossip really served her well. She was being defamed and didn’t even know it. “K” succumbed to her own defeat that left her alone and no one to turn to and gossip about “B”, everyone saw through the jealousy. There are people that want to outshine you, ride on your coattails instead of shining on their own.
“B” only found out about the situation today. “B” didn’t deserve any of it and I’m glad I was there for her today. I always tell her I could be a little more like her because she’s just the sweetest. All the Best!
