Hurricane Beryl, Day 3 – 7/10/24

I hope everyone is doing okay. Today is day 3 and still without power. I received notification from my job yesterday at about it 4pm that they were returning to normal operations as of today. There was no way for me to return, but I drove back to my house and grabbed my laptop and see if I was able to work from a temporary location. My family comes first so I had to explain the situation to my supervisor that I would make every attempt to work from wherever I was. I’m glad she understood and didn’t rush me. I woke up late and the hubby had left for work already. I hadn’t slept well.

I began with a cup of coffee and chatted with the family. I drove back home to take out the trash and try to salvage whatever frozen food I had. My neighbors were able to keep most of the frozen meat for me in their freezer. They are great people. I shared some Greek food that was provided to us by my hubby and took some with me for the family as well. Had a nice lunch with my mother-in-law, she’s the best! We laughed so hard and had some great conversations. I was able to work for a few hours. My son took a long nap. He was stressed out and had little sleep the last couple days. I was worried about him, but that left once he got up and was cheerful that he was still at a place with cold air. He was in a better mood and was himself. The internet was spotty, and I was dropped off and I didn’t bother to get back on.

We had pizza for dinner and my son was loving it. We chatted together as a family around 8pm. For a few hours we had happy moments, and forgot about our worries telling stories. All the Best!
