Wasted time – 5/23/24

I hope everyone is doing okay. How many of you go to meetings and felt it’s a waste of time? This one was a true waste.

I arrived in a good mood, ready to go like any morning when I commute to work. My commute was nothing out of the ordinary. I changed my lunch with my friend because I have to go to lunch with someone else in the department? Okay!

I got on the zoom call waiting for the host to let me in to our regular staff meeting. While I waited and waited, I was 5 minutes late getting on to the meeting. The supervisor sends me a zoom text, “we’re meeting in person.” I walked across the conference room, and no one is there? Then I sent her a zoom text asking where the meeting was, she responded, “in my office.” As I walked over thinking she’s a hot mess and has been for a while, I got stopped, sidetracked by the lady that lives there at work! Insane, right? I asked her if she was okay and kept going. I knocked at her door, and it was locked. As they let me in, obviously upset I spoke up, “Ya’ll could’ve said something about meeting in person!” I was offered a chair and I asked for them to continue. They were talking about the lady that lives at work. I commented how they should stop talking about the poor girl. I was being watched as if they saw something in horror, coming up with excuses of why I wasn’t told we were meeting in person. No offense taken.

I wasn’t even in the office in our supposed staff meeting for 10 minutes. She told me she thought I was on a call because she heard me laughing while I was waiting for her to start the meeting. She cannot tell me she is that naive, thought I was on a call when it prompts her that someone is waiting to be let in to a zoom call and she won’t open it up until the host lets you in? She annoyed me. I decided to take the day after Memorial Day off to get some additional rest. “Okay, to keep you happy”, she says. I will ponder having a chat with her, but first I’ll have ice cream and a Pepsi. The other I’ll decide upon my return to work. All the Best!
