I hope all is well with everyone.
It’s been a very busy two days already for me, but I’m not complaining about the work. It’s been non-stop and late nights. I made updates to a payroll excel workbook four times today. I tried to do my best with no direction or instruction and to supervisor liking. Each time her take was hesitant, “well just change this and change that.”
This place has no templates, structure, but at least the supervisor acknowledges it. She’s worked here over ten years and I’m assuming no one has had time to put anything together? I created a summary sheet for the detail tabs to support the investigator making quick decisions, but the supervisor said no to a summary. With no proper instruction and no consistency at this place and of course makes a left turn on me without putting a signal on I made the decision to keep the summary.
For each special project I keep a copy as a template in support of myself to keep track of steps to take for special projects including this one I’m working on, but I cannot keep a completed one because she will come back and change something. Each conversation leaves me to gather my own thoughts and notes because there’s so much said about topics at different points of the conversation – making changes. I got off a call with the supervisor three times today, confirmed the updates with her and in the end I sent the investigator the payroll forecast. I’ll take the heat if there is something she doesn’t like. At least I can explain my own work. All the Best!
