I hope everyone is doing okay.
There were so many things happening today and despite I worked diligently to meet the needs of each person requesting something from me I fell behind on my work, but I’m glad I did because I got my name out there. People began to seek me upon either hearing from me through the grapevine and my supervisor being on vacation they had direct access to me. Yes, I felt like I was kept from them and they were kept from me. I was happy to begin working with other colleagues and sharing information. Glad to help.
I got a small window of almost three weeks to use my skills and felt good to work faster. It felt like I was being blocked from collaborating. The supervisor came back to work today and tested us on how much we picked up and do one mock presentation. My co-worker decided to go first and it was pretty challenging for her. After three months I wasn’t sure how much she knew or had been able to pick up even after I showed her quite a few things. It took two hours and went beyond our scheduled time. I have doubts she was prepared. I presented my part and got it done in forty minutes. I took the feedback given and she kept pushing back on the suggestions from the supervisor. I questioned myself of why all she has to do is agree and move on?
I don’t recall how the accountant was involved in the conversation. The supervisor was commenting on what he was supposed to do, his function and support. My comment, “Honestly, he will answer only what I ask, doesn’t share anything other than and sometimes I’m confused by his responses that are not part of the question.” I cannot comment on anything related to Human Resources because I don’t even have view access. The supervisor immediately took to the defense of the accountant. She was asking for an example and I told her I didn’t have one I don’t keep up with those sorts of things. The supervisor kept going on and I cut her off and asked to stop because I wasn’t going to tell on anyone and not my intention. The guy is young and probably learning just as we are as well.
The supervisor called a couple minutes later after we ended our initial call and explained she wasn’t looking for us to debate on the accountant, but to try and understand how he can further support us. She was attempting to smooth things out with me, but there was no need – I appreciate the call. I wasn’t upset at all, but the accountant just started and is young. She knows that I can do this job, my ideas and putting a couple fires out while she was out showed my strength. She was open about the challenges that I face with no structure, but as I normally do in any job structure and organization are my strength. All the Best!
