Friday Reflection – All I do is work here – 7/7/23

I hope everyone is doing okay.

All the struggles and challenges are around me and I refuse to make them mine. “Leadership in essence is ordering priorities, allocating resources, and managing time.” – Dr. Lucas D. Shallua

On Thursday (7/6/23), I asked the supervisor to go over the financials together with me for the investigator, sure of herself that it was no big deal that it wasn’t necessary to go through them thoroughly and dealt with in the morning, she brushed me off. This morning I asked her to refresh the report and go through the reports because I knew something was not quite right, I couldn’t tie back, but I didn’t have the necessary resources or knew where to look. She finally began to review and I immediately knew she was pissed off. The Skype messages began to come through I couldn’t keep up with her asking me to pull this, pull that from the system and why this or why that? I called her to go through it with her and she hung up on me, very childish of her. The next message I got, “I don’t have time – I have a meeting at 9:30am.” So, now that it’s down to the wire she got to work and paid attention. Her behavior showed how she works under pressure and I didn’t stress over it.

I was ready to talk to her face-to-face about being childish and inappropriate. I wish to no longer work with someone who can’t handle their time. As we went into the 9:30am meeting with the investigator, my supervisor was pretty much tore into pieces at the end.

My supervisor’s demeanor changed in the afternoon, we worked together on what went wrong and how to correct it in the future. We finally got things done and I learned how to proceed instead of her just allowing me to be stuck. It’s Friday at 3pm and I feel like this is more punishment for me, but I shined bright explaining to her my findings if she wouldn’t have hung up on me we could’ve saved face.

I’m going into the weekend to heal, meditate and turn on my “stress relief” candle. “Your behavior reflects your actual purpose.” – Ronald Heifete All the Best!
