Hello, I hope everyone is doing okay.
As I’m watching this town hall at work, I had to turn my camera off because I was a bit shocked. A new level of tattle tale at work. The division had a presentation on a new program on how to report someone anonymously. This week just got me shaking my head. As I’m watching it, they took you through the process on how to submit your complaint.
Apparently once you submit the complaint, the system removes your IP address, goes through a “process” to eliminate or remove who it came from. The department designee will receive the complaint and speak to the person who it was filed against. These are only for someone who was presumably rude or made someone feel uncomfortable and might not even know they did, anything minor. If it is a recurring situation it might be scaled up.
Is it that bad? I’ve had people “size me up,” but it didn’t intimate me or make me feel uncomfortable. I only had to tell the person to tone it down or their comments were not necessary?! It wasn’t even in my current workplace. I observe people and can sense their intentions. I can hear and see undertones, body posture and facial expressions. Does it really require a program to help someone put a stop to a situation? Or it can ruin someone’s day and cause embarrassment, not being given an opportunity to apologize or defend themselves. Just WOW! All the Best!
