Friday Reflection – At Lunch Today – 6/23/23

Hello, I hope everyone is doing okay.

Today we went to lunch, the finance group. We’re all fairly new to the organization and the Director treated us to lunch. I was excited to get out and talk to people. I work remote so I don’t talk to co-workers as I would if I were in the office.

As I reflect on this week and how this manager has treated me including during the lunch meeting, I am frustrated with her, but I understand who you are and why. I learned a little bit about her today and how she grew up. What she fails to understand is that someone else had it and has it worse than you. You have no right to treat anyone less than or indifferent, make assumptions. I’m not going to let her mindset bother me. She is wrong to think that the world owes her anything and what she went through was so bad. It doesn’t bother me, but at least I know how she was shaped and how she thinks.

Your experiences are for us to learn and make the necessary changes for good and how we decide to move forward is what matters. You move forward selfishly and I moved forward with an open heart and despite growing up poor, went scared to the worst schools, was bullied I learned lessons and chose to do right because no one else is to blame for my early years. You can’t place blame on anyone for your past. You are upset because you were in a school where you were safe and bored – be happy and be grateful. All the Best!

So much to learn when you step outside your bubble.
